Dr. Biren, a Dental Surgeon for over 25 Years was trained in India and earned a BDS in Dental Surgery. He did his fellowship at F.A.G.E India and is a fellow of the Royal Society Of Health UK where he was mentored by world-renowned Dental Professors. He has worked in India, Kenya and Uganda for the last 22 years. He works at Sterling Dental Clinic, a privately owned Practice for the last 22 years and now located at Garden City Mall, Kampala. Sterling Dental Clinic has done a lot of community work in conjunction with Colgate by holding dental camps in many rural areas as well as doing school checkups since 1998. His personal motto in life is to live for the day, and make everyday count.
Dr. Annah is a maxillofacial surgeon working with Makerere University with over ten years' experience in specialized dentistry. She is also interested in infectious and non-communicable diseases research and has previously been involved in Human Papilloma Virus research from which she designed her Master's degree thesis where she genotyped for HPV-16 and 18. Dr Annah led the COVID-19 response team of Butabika Mental Referral hospital as the COVID-19 response coordinator. She is currently an assistant lecturer and the clinical head at Makerere Dental hospital.
Dr. Trevor has served on the executive before, once as the Students representative and once as the Editor of UDA Journal. He is currently in part time Dental Practice at Dino Dental Kampala. Besides Dentistry, he is a writer, having published an online Poetry Anthology in 2020.
Dr. Dasiy Origumisiriza is a dental surgeon from Makerere University. She currently works at the Doctor's Hospital in Seguku. She is interested in Periodontology, Surgery and Pediatric dentistry.
Dr. JP, born in Soroti, is one of the youngest on the team, having previously served as the interns representative to the executive. He graduated in 2020 with a BDS from Makerere University. Son to a beautiful angel (he describes) and a now Retired Court of Appeal Judge (Rtd Hon. Engwau S.G), he hails from a family of reputable civil standing; lawyers, doctors, bankers, name it! He also serves as CEO of a transportation business, shareholder in Nick gadgets and electronics as well as Kampala tasty Rolex. Has an eye for business this one!
Dr. Muhammad graduated from the Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, International University of Africa, Khartoum in 2016. He did his Medical Internship from Mulago National Referral hospital Kampala in 2018. He worked at Kay's Dental Clinics as a Dental Surgeon in 2019 , He later left and started his private practice called Prime Dental Clinic in 2020 which he still runs to date . He is very passionate about dentistry and is currently serving as a CDE Coordinator on the Uganda Dental Association Executive .
Dr. Davis has been in active clinical practice for 16years and counting. He is based at Nakasero Hospital Dental Clinic, one of the top tier Hospitals in the Country. A Seasoned Lecturer of Human Physiology at the Makerere University College of Health Sciences, he boasts of a hefty academic background; from a BDS MUK, MSc in Physiology, Cert in Implantology, Cert in CADCAM Dentistry and counting. He has been instrumental in the past and hopefully future running of the Uganda Dental Association.
Dr. David Opwonya, an Acholi from Gulu District, has a BDS from Makerere University and has worked in Kitgum General Hospital and Gulu Independent Hospital. He was the proprietor of B.O.N Dental Clinic in Mutungo which he started in 2010. He also founded Numes Medical Centre Anaka in Nwoya district. During COVID-19 pandemic(2020) he converted a dental clinic in Gulu City to a fully fledged Medical Centre, St Mary's Medical Centre Gulu. The business name was eventually changed to Numes Medical Centre Gulu City. He is currently a dental surgeon at Anaka General Hospital in Nwoya.Dr. David is a determined character with a big heart who practices dentistry with honesty and compassion. Besides dentistry, Dr. David is passionate about business and farming. He is married to 2 wives and a father to 6 children.
Dr. Ibra Muhumuza, was the pioneer Dean of the first School of Dentistry, in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Rwanda. He earned his Postgraduate Diploma In Dental Public Health from the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Masters in Dental Public Health from the University College of London, UK. Dr. Ibra has also served as a Secretary to the committee of Dental Deans of East Africa/Chief Dental Officers (CODDEA), head of the clinical services in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences’ Polyclinic and as a Member of the Rwanda Medical and Dental Association. He currently serves as the UDA Western Region Representative.
Dr. Ayub Twaha (BDS MuK ) is the UDA UMDPC representative and is currently a Dentist with Bank of Uganda Staff Clinic and a visiting dentist at Bhandari Dental Care, Baroda Dental Hospital and Millennium Dental Clinic, with a combined work experience of 23 years in oral health care. In addition, he serves as Deputy Director of Finance of the Islamic Medical Association of Uganda. He is a past President of the Uganda Dental Association.Dr. Ayub is also a regular guest speaker at conferences and events organized for young people. He speaks about his path to success and offers advice to those who want to advance their careers. Dr. Ayub has tutored students in the school for Public Health Dentistry in Mulago for Ten years and worked closely with the school of Dentistry on community dentistry activities.
Dr. Mohammed Mbabali is a highly skilled Dental Surgeon with expertise in Periodontology and Implantology. He has an MDS in Clinical Periodontology and a BDS from the University of Nairobi. He serves as a Board Member of the National Drug Authority and is UDA's NDA Representative while also previously serving as UDA Vice President.He has a strong background in clinical assessment and management of periodontal patients, non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies, and implant dentistry. Dr. Mbabali has a proven track record in clinical research, serving as a peer reviewer in dentistry, clinical periodontology, and implantology. His dedication to advancing the field is evident through his active involvement in research projects.
